Our Curriculum

Science ProgramOur curriculum centers around the natural curiosity of children; therefore, the focus of our academic and social programs builds upon this innate trait. Since we firmly believe that children learn by doing, we incorporate hands-on activities into every aspect of our curriculum, including language, art, gross and fine motor activities, music and science.

Monthly enhancements to our programs include, Fall Festival, Thanksgiving Feast, Christmas Play and Jesus Walk (celebrating the birth of Christ), Pajama Day, Pet Day, Grandparents’ Day, Mother’s Day, and culminating in June Science Day, Circus Day, and Field Day!

Included in our Science Program, the children learn about the natural world around them. Each class receives a half hour of science instruction per week culminating in June with our “hands-on” Science Day involving students, staff and parents.

The latest addition to our Language Curriculum includes a one-to-one “Sight Word Reading Program” as well as a Lending Library Program which is managed by parents.

Indoor Facilities

There are two levels of classroom and play space. The upper level has one large sunny room and the lower level has one large center room with smaller rooms adjoining. This makes possible a great variety of large and small group play instruction.

Outdoor Facilities

The woodland setting is unique and presents a marvelous opportunity to make the child more aware of the life about him/her by observing nature in the various seasons.

The large playground is equipped with a modern play center and sand box.

The Board is made up of members of the Lutheran Church of the Cross and consists of a chairman, recording secretary, financial secretary and treasurer. The Board and the Administrators of the School evaluate the programs.
